DAY 1 – COLOMBO / VARANASI

On arrival at Varanasi Airport you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to the hotel.

Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

 

DAY 2 – VARANASI / BODHGAYA

After breakfast visit Saranath, about 10kms from the holy city of Varnasi.

One among the four most sacred sites to all Buddhists, it is here at the Isipatana Deer Park that the Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon the Dhammacakkha pavaththana Sutta after attaining Enlightenment in Bodh Gaya, more than 2500 years ago.

After lunch drive to the sacred city of Bodh Gaya for dinner and overnight stay.

 

DAY 3 – BODHGAYA

Early morning visit the Mahabodhi Temple and have the unique opportunity of offering ‘kiri pindu’.

Visit the sacred Bodhi Tree under which the wandering ascetic Siddartha attained Enlightenment as Sakyamuni Gautama Buddha.

Visit the Great Buddha Statue and the Niranjana River. You will also be visiting the Sujata Temple across the Neranjana River. It is the sacred location at which the noble lady Sujata offered milk and rice to ascetic Siddhartha prior to him attaining Enlightenment.

After having lunch at hotel visit Dungeshwari (Mahakala) Caves where ascetic Siddhartha spent 6 years in meditation and rigid penance in seek of liberation.

Dinner and overnight stay at Bodhgaya.

 

DAY 4 – BODH GAYA / RAJGIR /NALANDA / VAISHALI

After breakfast drive to Rajgir. Later visit Vulture Hill, Bimbisara Jail and Ajatashatru’s Fort., World Peace Stupa and the Bamboo Garden (Veluvana).

After lunch visit Nalanda and witness the ruins of the Nalanda University which was one of the oldest universities of the world and an international center for Buddhist studies.

Drive to Vaishali. Overnight stay in Vaishali.

 

DAY 5 – VAISHALI / KUSHINAGAR/ LUMBINI

After breakfast drive to Vaishali (Visala Mahanuvara). Visit Vaishali Stupa and view the Ashokan Pillar. Lunch in Vaishali.

Drive to Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh, one of the 4 most sacred places of worship, where the Lord Buddha entered perfect tranquillity – the state of Maha Parinirvana.  Visit Maha Parinirvana Temple and Maha Parinirvana Stupa and the golden statue of the reclining Buddha. Worship the  Rambhar Stupa, which marks the cremation site of the Buddha and the Japan Temple.

After lunch drive to Lumbini (Nepal). While travelling to Lumbini you will briefly stop at the India/Nepal border for Visa/Immigration formalities.

Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Nepal.

 

DAY 6 – LUMBINI / SRAVASTI

After breakfast visit Lumbini, the birth place of Prince Siddhartha. Visit Maya Devi Temple and view the Ashokan Pillar.

After lunch drive to Sravasti. On arrival check in for dinner and overnight stay.

 

DAY 7 – SRAVASTI / VARANASI

After breakfast visit Sravasti, a popular city during the life of Lord Buddha. It was in this sacred city that Lord Buddha spent 24 monsoon (Vas) seasons.

Visit Jetavana and Ananda Bodhi Tree. After lunch drive to Varanasi.

Check in, dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

 

DAY 8 – VARANASI / COLOMBO 

After breakfast transfer to airport to board the flight back to Sri Lanka after a most fulfilling spiritual journey.

DAY 1 – COLOMBO / VARNASI

On arrival at Varanasi Airport you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to the hotel.

One among the four most sacred sites to all Buddhists, it is here at the Isipatana Deer Park in Saranath that Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon to the five monks, after attaining Enlightenment more than 2500 years ago.

Sightsee the sacred city of Saranath, view the ruins of the Mulagandhikuti Vihara, which is the place where Lord Buddha spent his first monsoon season (Vas) in meditation. Visit the Saranath Museum, the Dhamek Stupa, constructed by King Asoka and listen to the chanting of the Dhammacakkha pavaththana sutta in the evening.

Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

 

DAY 2 – VARNASI / BODHGAYA

A boat ride in the Ganges River is optional in the early morning to view the bathing Ghats. After breakfast, drive to Bodhgaya with packed lunch.

On arrival, check in at hotel for overnight stay in Bodhgaya.

 

DAY 3 – BODHGAYA

Early morning visit the Mahabodhi Temple and have the rare opportunity of observing ‘sil’ and offering ‘kiri pindu’ at this most sacred place of worship. Visit the sacred Bodhi Tree, the Great Buddha Statue and Niranjana River.

After breakfast visit Rajgir, known as Rajagaha, the capital of Magadha in the time of the Buddha.

Visit the Vulture Hill, King Bimbisara’s jail, Ajatashatru’s Fort, the World Peace Stupa, Bamboo Garden (Veluvana) and Devadatta’s Cave at Makdum Kund. As time permits you may also visit the Sattapanna Cave where the First Council was held, Jivaka’s Mango Grove, Ajatasattu’s Stupa and the Pipphali Cave.

After lunch in Nalanda you will visit the ruins of the Nalanda University, one of the oldest universities of the world.

Overnight stay in Patna.

 

DAY 5 – PATNA / VAISHALI / GORAKHPUR

After breakfast drive to Gorakhpur and visit Vaishali en route.

The capital of the Licchavis in time of Lord Buddha Vaishali was a rich and prosperous city which was affected by drought and famine and where the Ratana Sutta was chanted to dispel all evil from the city.

Lunch at restaurant in Kesariya.

On arrival in Gorakhpur check in at hotel for overnight stay.

 

DAY 6 – GORAKHPUR / KUSHINAGAR / LUMBINI

After breakfast drive to Kushinagar, among the four most sacred sites, it is here that the Buddha entered perfect tranquility – the state of Mahaparinirvana.

Check in at hotel to refresh and later visit Ramabhar Stupa, also known as Mukutbandhan Chaitya which marks the cremation site of the Buddha. View the colossal reclining statue at the Mahaparinirvana Temple.

Drive to Lumbini (Nepal). While travelling to Lumbini, you will briefly stop at the India/Nepal border for Visa/Immigration formalities.

Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Lumbini.

 

DAY 7 – LUMBINI / KAPILAVASTU /SRAVASTI

After Breakfast proceed to view the sacred sites in Lumbini, the birth place of Prince Siddhartha. Visit Maya Devi Temple and view the Ashokan Pillar.

After early lunch leave for Sravasti. Visit Kapilavastu en route. Once the capital city of the Sakya clan, Kapilavastu is the city where Prince Siddhartha lived before pursuing the spiritual path.

Drive to Sravasti check-in at hotel for overnight stay.

 

DAY 8 – SRAVASTI / LUCKNOW

After breakfast visit Sravasti, a city very much preferred by the Buddha and where the Buddha spent 24 monsoon (Vas) seasons.

Visit the Jetavana Monastery and the Ananda bodhi tree, the Gandhakuti and the Anandakuti as well as the Anathapindika Stupa.

Drive to Lucknow thereafter check-in to hotel in Lucknow for overnight stay.

 

DAY 9 – LUCKNOW / SANKASSA / AGRA

After early breakfast drive to Sankassa with packed lunch. Visit the sacred site where the Buddha descended from Tavatimsa Heaven after preaching the Abidhamma.

Continue to Agra, check-in and overnight stay in Agra.

 

DAY 10 – AGRA / DELHI

After breakfast visit the world famous Taj Mahal and drive through Agra Fort. After Lunch Drive to Delhi.

On arrival check in for overnight stay.

 

DAY11 – DELHI / COLOMBO

After breakfast at leisure.

You can opt to visit the National Museum or the sacred site at which the Satipattana Sutta was chanted. The day will be free for shopping and own activity.

Later transfer to airport for journey back to Sri Lanka after a fulfilling spiritual journey.
